ALEX SERRA

Alex Serra is a musician and explorer, from the Mediterranean city of Barcelona. His debut album ‘In the Real World’ (2019) springs from an inspiring four-year self-discovery journey starting in 2012 and taking him through Latin America and South Africa, where he connects with musicians from different musical roots that permeate his music with a unique and regenerating energy.

In 2014 Alex lands in Cape Town (South Africa) and meets musician Yannick Meyer with whom he forms a heartfelt brotherhood. Together they start an ‘African psychedelic Pop’ project called Native Young, joining with a marimba band form the townships of Gugulethu, Kayelitsha and Philippi. This cultural and musical human exploration changes his life, inspiring him to explore his own musical universe on his return home in 2016.

In Barcelona he begins to play at some of the local open mics, such as the legendary Club Cronopios, under the stage name Gato Suave and connects with the urban music scene of the city. In 2017 a friend introduces him to Toti Arimany (Totidub) while looking for a producer who can help fine touch his demo album. Then the magic exploded once again.

YEMI BOLATIWA

Powerful soul vocalist, Yemi over recent years has played on BBC Radio 1 & Kiss FM, with performances and features on BBC Introducing Manchester, BBC Radio Manchester and BBC 1Xtra singing her confessional tracks and as co-writer on many underground electronic releases. The London born soul singer hails proudly from the Manchester live music scene, versatile and vocally finessed. She's taken her original live show in many forms across the country since 2018 minus the unprecedented downtime and has revived her live band since 2021 with new songs and new dynamics blending soul, RnB and bass music in her performances!

Yemi’s live act comes in versatile forms from a drum machine and synth lead electronic soul setup which she'll be bringing up to us this time round, to the full 6 piece ensemble with live drums, viola, keys, bass and guitar; always paying homage to Garage and DnB music in a live format.

After being long-listed for Glastonbury’s emerging talent competition in 2020, you can be sure that Yemi will continue to be grace stages across the UK and beyond. “A versatile vocalist, at home on an infectious pop song or a confessional soul track. There’s an effortlessness and smoothness to her delivery.” – Crack Magazine
