The band explore how composers such as Brahms and Schubert were inspired by folk music, with their unique 5-piece lineup at the Curve Garden, plus support from Sergio Bucheli
ZRI
ZRI is named after the Red Hedgehog Tavern in Vienna (Zum Roten Igel) where composers including Brahms and Schubert went to drink, eat, and hear the folk musicians play.
Featuring a unique lineup of santouri, clarinet, violin, accordion and cello, ZRI's music dances the line where classical and folk intertwine, where composers found inspiration in nomadic folk cultures.
They have toured all over Europe and played at major festivals in the UK and abroad with their unique re-scoring of Brahms and Schubert quintets, of which they have made critically acclaimed albums, with their live score to Charlie Chaplin's film 'The Adventurer' and Janacek's 'Kreutzer Sonata'.
At the Red Hedgehog Tavern expect to hear classical music, pop tunes from the future, and captivating Roma folk melodies. ZRI look forward to making their third Woodburner appearance this July.
