London-based 8-piece The Bonita Band play host to three irresistible vocalists: Colombian rap star N Hardem, rising latin singer Rosa Cecilia, plus East London lyricist Kieron Boothe (The Silhouettes Project), hosted by Eerf Evil.
N Hardem
Active since 2011 and influenced mainly by the sound and narrative of underground rap formed in the 90’s, he creates a project rooted on the search for a sound and a voice that is unique and personal to him, and based on his social and geographical origins and context,
’N’ prevails backed by a high quality standard, attention to detail and the creative infinite, which you can perceive when you come into contact with his music, establishing himself as a key reference of Latin American Rap in the XXI century.
He’s part of the fruitful independent music scene in Colombia, and is constantly looking to cross borders, build bridges and construct communities, either through hip-hop, jazz, traditional or experimental sounds. His discography comprises 7 pieces and several collaborations with different artists worldwide.
Rosa Cecilia
Rosa Cecilia is an independent artist from London. She embarked on a solo music career in October 2021 with her debut EP, Take None followed by two singles, Gold Chains (half a million streams) and La Rosa. Cecilia grew up in a Chilean-Italian-English household and is influenced jazz, soul, 00s RnB, Latin music and vintage film soundtracks.
Despite starting her career only 18 months ago, Rosa has grown an organic, dedicated and growing fanbase. She has developed her own talented creative team who help her to consistently deliver high quality visual and musical content.
Her consistent output has led her to support Marina Sena and Judith Hill (Lafayette and Jazz Café) and sell out headline shows at Brixton’s Hootananny and Peckham Audio. She has also played Latitude and Latino Life in the Park festival. Her work has been featured in British Vogue, Wonderland, Haste Magazine, Soho Radio, Voices Radio, Mixcloud and more.
Rosa Cecilia is also recognised for her style and involvement in the fashion world, having collaborated with various designers.
Kieron Boothe
East London rapper, illustrator and designer Kieron Boothe is thriving in his own lane as he makes his distinct stamp on the UK Rap scene. Kieron showcases his range by bridging the gap between Alternative Rap, Boom Bap and Jazz, combining smooth samples with reeling lyricism and demonstrating his ability to write personally yet playfully.
Bonita House Band
The Bonita House Band has been called one of the most interesting and unique up and coming Latin/ fusion bands in London. With a combina5on of Salsa, Latin Jazz, Cumbia, Folklore and Psychedelia, the band is comprised by some of the best and most unique musicians in the music scene in London. This is perhaps one of the most unique features, that the musicians that comprise the band are not all strictly from a La5n background but the fusion of styles and influences create a unique approach and flavor; a Latin / London sound.
The Bonita band is ran and directed by producer Santiago Morales from Colombia and musical director Lennyn Sampedro from Ecuador who always keep the tradition and the roots true to their origin, but who also are constantly pushing innovation and experimentation forward, creating their own identity and a sound for the London Latinx and a representation for 1st and 2nd generation Latinos in the UK.
The band is part of a bigger platform/ brand, Bonita which is at the forefront of the creation and showcase of Latinx music and art in the UK.
The Bonita Live experience is one of a kind, every set is curated differently with odes to different eras and ar5sts of the La5n music spectrum as well as original songs taking the audience on a journey to the sounds and rhythms of South America and London. Special guests join the band to perform specialized sets that highlight different talents, styles and instruments such as accordion or vibraphone, Bonita has collaborated so far with local talents such as: Dorance Lorza, Luz Mira Serpa, Desta French, Nando Hernandez and Eliane Correa.’
Every performance is different and there is a big space for improvisation and reinterpretation, every musician brings their own identity and expression to the music and shines by their own light, but when you experience the connection on stage, the experience is different.
