BRAVE POETS
Founded by Maysa Ibrahim while performing poetry in San Francisco in 2017, Brave Poets is a London platform focused around the curated jam. The movement has grown to form a collective of artists, poets, photographers, performers, sound-scapers, DJs, and friends for whom real poetry and excellent music is everything.
With their live house band, Brave Poets welcome four poets to the Curve Garden stage to combine for a once-ever live experience.
LUKE AG
Luke AG is a London based poet with a distinctly political and historical message. He uses poetry and rhyme to navigate through an honest and endearing narrative of his own life and the people he encounters. Originally from Hastings, much of his poetry works through his journey from a small town to the big city and London is a richer place for having him.
ZOHAB ZEE KHAN
London is also blessed with the recent arrival of Zohab Zee Khan. A prolific didgeridoo-playing poet from Australia with a towering cv, Zohab is a Australian grand poetry slam champion, with two books of poetry behind him and a third on the way. All 6 foot five of didgeridoo-playing performance poet is here in London for his Brave Poets debut at the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden.
SOPHIE MILNER
Sophie Milner is a young but stratospherically successful artist whose artwork commissions includes album covers for Laura Marling and Mumford & Sons. Fusing poetry and performance, she is a visual artist with several solo pioneering shows under her belt and Sophie begins her poetry MA this autumn.
NINA MDWABA
Nina Mdwaba is a published, performance and spoken word artist with a genuine and open philosophy that is at the core of Brave Poets. She says “I’m not here to promote myself or my brand. I’m here to share parts of myself and my art with you in the hopes that you will feel safe enough to do the same with me.” And that genuine approach is what lies behind the founding of Brave Poets.
