One huge night at Hootananny Brixton with 3 live bands and killer DJ sounds.
RUM BUFFALO
Rum Buffalo fornicate with forgotten songs. They mingle in many genres but feed off the rich antique roots of western swing and moody blues infiltrated with hip hop beats and filthy synth lines. It’s surreal, vaudevillian swing with outrageous costume, twisted vocal harmonies, powerful beats and outrageous horn sounds.
MAMA JERK & THE LADYFINGERS
Armed with wailing psych rock lines and heavy dub rhythm and horns, Mama Jerk and The Ladyfingers deliver gravelly messages of love, death and fitted kitchens.
Knees up, French infused, gypsy undertones, deep rumbling vocals, psychedelic guitar landscaping, a fairly attractive horn section and a fearless approach to genre hopping, Mama Jerk has made a name for itself as being one of the most original bands to step onto Bristol's Party scene. Big band festival sound with more cor anglais; Mama Jerk & the LadyFingers: the thinking man’s party band.
Tall tale weaving stomp mongers of the highest order, they’ve been wreaking havoc around the UK festival and party scene for the past five years. From the Isle of Wight Festival, to Glastonbury, Boomtown and Secret Garden Party to the main stage at Beathherder, Mama Jerk and The Ladyfingers have delighted and bemused young and old up and down the country.
SAULTS
At the age of 6, Antoine Saults (lead guitar / vocals) was offered his very first guitar. Shortly after, his little brother, Greg Saults (drums / vocals) followed in his footsteps in the hope of being in a band “like the Beatles”: from all of his 7 years of age, he decided to be a drummer.
Ten years later, their dream came true in the form of the band SAULTS.
Now, Antoine, Greg and Axel live London and Saults, as a trio, playing regularly in different venues. Last November, they won the Yamaha « Funk it up Thursdays » finals which has granted them the right and the honour to play at The Love Supreme festival 2018. All this is just the beginning…
DJ JOPLIN PARNELL
Born in New Orleans and reared on his parents' extensive record collection, Joplin Parnell is a musician, DJ and collector of the rarest vinyl sides from his home town and Central and South America. His DJ sets consist of a whirlwind tour of music from the swing era to the present day through thumping rhythms and rollocking bass. Carnivalistic, cacophonous and down right funky.
