Our cosy monthly Sunday at Brick Lane's secret gem of Juju's. The unique and much-loved Whiskey Moon Face will play a set of their original tunes to soundtrack your Sunday evening like no other, with old collaborator and friend Theo Bard with a solo set on acoustic guitar in support.
WHISKEY MOON FACE
The result of a thousand drunken nights, countless dreamy days, and years of musical adventuring, Whiskey Moon Face take you on a voyage into a bohemian underworld which you never knew existed.
Born into a puddle of whiskey beneath a stark winter moon and raised by cold winds, schooled in the warming spirits and hungry for more, Whiskey Moon Face manage a natural, graceful sound built from many ports.
Always innovating and improvising with stark originality, Louisa Jones’ troupe of underground musicians play with a virtuosity you could never expect. Songs which speak of the unspeakable, with understated humour, captivating storytelling and a transcendent spirituality.
"The end result of listening to One Blinding Dusky Dusk is akin to having been at one of those wild and joyous youthful parties in somebody else’s parents’ house that you’ll remember for years." - Folk Radio UK
THEO BARD
Woodburner's host will play a solo set on acoustic guitar, featuring his own songs and a selection of much-loved folk repertoire from the archive. Since the release of his critically-acclaimed album The Springtime Fool, Theo has gone on to play shows at festivals across the UK, and in London at the South Bank Centre, Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, London Wonderground, Citadel and many more, bringing his positive message and memorable songwriting to every audience he greets.
This summer Theo has played sets at Wilderness, Fire in the Mountain, Bimble Bandada, The Rollright Fayre, Jam in a Jar, and was a guest at Anime Buskers - a week-long festival in Grottammare on the East coast of Italy, as well as Woodburner at Dalston Eastern Curve Garden.
"The actual quality of the songwriting is exceptional" - BBC Radio Scotland
