RUTH THEODORE
Principally a Violinist, Ruth taught herself guitar as a busker on the streets of Southampton, going on to write five acclaimed original records and perform live with award winning international artists such as Ani Difranco and Nick Harper. In recent times Ruth’s music has resonated across the atlantic which has led her to collaborations with producers Todd Sickafoose and international musicians around the world. Still barely knowing the names of the strings, Ruth’s guitar playing and use of unconventional techniques and unique tunings has dumbfounded guitarists ever since.
Moving to London in 2006, Ruth settled on a narrow boat moored on contested land in the east which has been her home for the last 10 years and a source of great inspiration lyrically throughout all her compositions. It's a great comfort that Ruth lives so close to Styx on the River Lea!
“Her tales leave you breathless” - Mojo
“Songs so quirky and unexpected that it’s impossible to imagine anyone else performing them” - The Guardian
