COVID-19: HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AT DALSTON EASTERN CURVE GARDEN

Due to the risk of transmission, this page outlines an extensive set of measures to ensure social distancing is maintained between performers, crew and audience during our live music events at the Curve Garden.

SUMMARY

The event will be seated only, divided into two sections: a socially-distanced auditorium, and socially-distanced tables.

In the auditorium, seats will have a minimum of 1m between each seat, ensuring that all audience members are properly distanced.

At the tables, each table will be sold as a single unit to single-household groups, while each seat will again be more than 1m away from other seats and other tables to reduce the risk of transmission.

A one-way system will be implemented in the space, to minimise face-to-face contact with others, as well as further measures to help stop the virus from spreading.

1. TICKETS

- Tickets online only

- Check-in via contactless, paperless QR codes and scanner

- No payments on the door

2. CROWD MANAGEMENT

- A one-way system will be implemented encouraging people to move in a circular direction, minimising face-to-face contact

- Route to the stage along the West side of the garden

- Route away from the stage along the centre of the garden

- Queues for entry, drinks, pizzas and toilets to be marked by lines on the ground, ensuring social distancing is maintained

- Hand sanitizer available at the door, bar, stage and pizza stand

3. PERFORMERS

- Maximum of 5 performers per act - most acts will be solo, duo or trio.

- Maximum of 10 performers per event

- At least 2 metres between performers on stage

- At least 3 metres between performers and audience

- Vocalists will bring their own microphones to avoid transmission between singers

- Maximum of 5 people on stage at any time.

- Utilise as much space as possible on stage, pushing performers to the corners where possible

- Hand sanitizer available at the stage for use of performers and crew before and after each performance

- Performers provided with tables backstage for comfort and distancing from the audience

4. CREW

- 4 crew members in total

- All crew members to wear a face mask

- Reduced crew in operation

- One crew member on the door

- One crew member to act as artist liaison and stage manager

- One sound engineer

- One DJ (Conrad)

5. AUDITORIUM

- Seats facing the stage

- At least 1m between each seat

- Total of 60 seats in the auditorium

6. TABLES

- Individual tables sold as a single block to single-household groups or households in a 'bubble'.

- 1m between each person

- Each table has a set number of seats to ensure this distance is respected

- Tables are spaced adequately to ensure social distancing

- Tables are at least 1m from walkways

- Each table has a distinct name with a corresponding ticket

- The ticket price for a table reflects the number of seats and proximity to the stage (closer to the stage will be more expensive)

- A total of 20 tables are available

7. TOTAL CAPACITY

- This leads to a total of 135 tickets available for sale, for auditorium and tables combined. Our usual capacity is 300 so this has been more than halved.

- With the music crew, performers and the garden's own staff, there will never be more than 150 people in the garden at any time.

- The garden's total area is 1450m2, which provides much more room than is necessary to socially distance this number of people.

8. GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES

Here are the government's own guidelines on outdoor performances, with responses below each point:

  • A reduction in venue capacity and limited ticket sales to ensure social distancing can be maintained.

Our capacity is reduced from 300 to 150 (including staff members and performers) - given the size of the garden this enables ample space for social distancing.

  • All tickets must be purchased online and venues are encouraged to move towards e-ticketing for help with track and trace

We will do this, no tickets on the door.

  • Venues should have clearly communicated social distancing marking in place in areas where queues form and adopt a limited entry approach *. Increased deep cleaning of auditoriums

With the venue will ensure that all queue areas are clearly marked, with guide lines marked plenty of space between people.

  • Performances should be scheduled to allow sufficient time to undertake deep cleaning before the next audience arrives

At most we will have one audience per day, more likely one per week.

  • Singing and the playing of brass and wind instruments in groups or in front of an audience is limited to professionals only

We will not be booking any choirs or ensembles with more than one brass instrument.

  • Performers, conductors, musicians must observe social distancing wherever possible

A hard limit of 5 people on stage at all times, plenty of backstage space for social distancing.
